WICHITA - The Newman University women's basketball program has released its 2010-11 schedule. First year Head Coach Jaime Green will open her first season with a road-heavy schedule that includes some of the toughest competition in the South Central Region.

The Jets open their season Nov. 12 with a trip to Ada, Okla,. to take on East Central. Just 24 hours later, they will find themselves across the state of Oklahoma, taking on the Cameron Aggies in Lawton. Green and the Jets will conclude their three-game season-opening road swing by visiting the Pittsburg State Gorillas on Nov. 16.

Newman fans will get their first chance to see the new-look Jets on Nov. 19, when Fugate Gymnasium plays host to the annual Catholic School Invitation; a travelling tournament hosted last season in Denver, Colo., by Regis University. The Jets will open the tournament against the College of Saint Mary (Neb.), before playing either Rockhurst or Regis the following day. Two national powerhouses will visit Fugate to conclude a four-game homestand. Fort Hays State, who was receiving votes in the final NCAA Div. II Women's Basketball Poll last season, and Wayne State (Neb.), who was receiving votes most of the season before dropping out of the final poll will travel to Wichita on Nov. 23 and Nov. 26, respectively.

The Jets will take to the road one last time before the Christmas break, taking on former Heartland Conference member Lincoln on Nov. 27, before wrapping up its NCAA pre-Christmas schedule with a visit to Springfield, Mo., to take on Drury, who finished ranked No. 21 in the final NCAA Div. II Women's Basketball Poll last season, on Dec. 6. NAIA foes Peru State, Ottawa, and Southwestern will test the Jets in the final three games before the holiday break.

Missouri Western and Midwestern State will pose the final non-conference challenges for the Jets. Newman will travel to St. Joseph, Mo., to take on Missouri Western on Dec. 30, before heading south to Wichita Falls, Texas, for a Jan. 3 date with Midwestern State.

Newman will have to wait until Jan. 20 to host its first Heartland Conference contest, when the Texas-Permian Basin Falcons pay a visit to Fugate Gymnasium.
