The Newman women's soccer team will open its 2010 campaign by hosting the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats to Wilkins Field for a 7 p.m. contest. Friday's game will conclude SCSA Week at Newman. All Sedgwick County Soccer Association youth players who wear their uniform to the game will be admitted free of charge.

Northwest Missouri State (0-0, 0-0 MIAA)
Friday, Sept. 3 // 7 p.m. // Wilkins Field // Wichita, Kan.
Newman seeks revenge right out of the gates in Friday's home opener, looking to avenge a 1-0 loss to Northwest Missouri State last season on the Bearcats' home pitch in Maryville, Mo. The Jets return eight starters from a 2009 squad that finished third in the Heartland Conference, and earned Head Coach Derek Nichols the honor of being named 2009 Heartland Conference Women's Soccer Coach of the Year. A win against the Bearcats would be Newman's first-ever against Northwest Missouri State.

Missouri Southern (0-0, 0-0 MIAA)
Sunday, Sept. 5 // 2 p.m. // Hal Bodon Field // Joplin, Mo.
The Missouri Southern Lions will present the competition in Newman's first road game of the 2010 season as the Jets conclude a weekend of play against MIAA opponents in a 2 p.m. contests at MSSU's Hal Bodon Field in Joplin, Mo. Missouri Southern is coming off a disappointing 5-15 season last year, in which the Lions scored just 18 goals in 85 shots on goal. The Lions are under new leadership this season, as former coach Trevor Wachsman left in July to become an assistant coach at Utah State.

Up Next...
The Jets will return home on Wednesday, Sept. 8, when they host regional rival Rockhurst in a 6 p.m. contest at Wilkins Field.
