WARRENBURG, Mo. –
Travis Rodenbaugh placed fourth at the Central Missouri Open on Sunday (Nov. 17) to lead the Newman wrestling team.
Rodenbaugh started his day with a 9-4 decision win against Dakota Napoli and then won by major decision, 10-2, over Brandon Oshiro.
After a loss to Brendan Murphy, who placed second, Rodenbaugh got three straight wins in the consolation bracket. He won all three by decisions (11-7, 10-4 and 9-8). In the third place bout, he fell to Dean Heil of OSU to finish in fourth. He went 5-2 on the day.
At 149 lbs.,
Taylor Moeder went 4-2. After dropping his first match, Moeder got four wins in the consolation bracket. He started with a pin at 1:02 then got a tech fall win with a 16-1 score. He record back-to-back major decisions with 16-3 and 15-2 scores. His day ended with a loss to Kyle Williams of MKU, who placed third.
Colton Duhr went 2-2 in the 157 lb. class. He won a 7-4 decision over Vito Krischke and then lost a close 5-4 decision to Andrew Simmons. In the consolation bracket, Duhr picked up a 6-2 decision win over Austin Allen, but his day ended with a 4-2 loss to Brennan Johnson of UCM.
Michael Kubik went 2-2 in the 174 lb. class. After a loss to start his day, he won two in the consolation bracket. He won a 4-2 decision and then won a 7-0 decision. He lost a very close 5-4 match to Dylan Harmon of UCO.
The Jets travel to the Holiday Inn Open on Saturday (Nov. 23) in Kearney, Neb. The event starts at 9 a.m.
