WICHITA – Newman University Director of Athletics
Vic Trilli announced that head women's soccer coach Victor Garcia-Bebek has announced his resignation for personal reasons, effective Sept. 30.
"I'm appreciative of Victor Garcia-Bebek's service here at Newman University for the last four years," Trilli said. "I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."
Garcia-Bebek was in his fourth season as the head coach of the Newman women's soccer team. In the 2013 season, Garcia-Bebek guided NU to its first-ever Heartland Conference postseason tournament appearance. Three Lady Jets earned All-Heartland Conference honors and one was All-Region.
Mei-Mei Senthavy had a record-breaking season with 11 goals and six assists, the most goals and assists in the Newman NCAA Division II era.
NU went 5-9-2 in 2014. Four Lady Jets were named to the All-Heartland Conference team.

Darci Nightingale and
Jeehye Yi earned all-conference honors. Ruvalcaba was named the Heartland Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week once during the season.
During Garcia-Bebek's first season, the Lady Jets increased their win total by two and finished with a 7-10-1 record.
Kayleigh Renfro was named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week once during the 2012 season.
In his career at NU, Garcia-Bebek went 21-33-4. He totaled seven all-conference selections, two all-tournament selections and one all-region selection. For his seven-year collegiate coaching career, Garcia-Bebek went 43-60-4 with 24 all-conference selections and 14 scholar athletes.

Cliff Brown will serve as the interim head women's soccer coach for the remainder of the 2015 season.
