AUGUSTA, Kan. — The first race of the season kicked things off with a promising start as the Newman men's and women's cross country teams each finished first in the team standings at the JK Gold Invitational Saturday morning at the RAFT Golf Course.
Steven Cherigat was four seconds off of the Newman men's record for a 6k race, while nearly every Jet runner for both the men and women better their time from last year's event.
The Jets easily topped the team leaderboard in the non-Division I division, taking six of the top nine individual spots in the men's race. The women did the same, going 1-2 individually.
