Jets split with SWOSU in midweek matchup

WICHITA-  The Jets hosted SWOSU for a non-conference matchup. The Jets fell to the Bulldogs back in February, 7-11.

Game 1:
The Bulldogs were the first on the scoreboard with a run in the 1st inning and 2 more rungs in the third inning. These runs allowed the Bulldogs to take the lead 3-0.

In the bottom of the third inning, Gianna Navarro started off the offense with a single and was able to advance to third, due to errors on the defense. Tori Waggoner came up next with a single to center, hitting Navarro across the plate. This RBI closed the lead to 3-1.

The Jets defense only allowed one more run in the contest, which was scored in the 5th inning. This run allowed SWOSU to take the lead 4-1.

The Jets offense got hot in the bottom of the 6th inning. Gianna De Luca-Paape was first to reach base in the inning, by an error on the defense. Laurie Cooke was also able to reach base with a walk. Lauren Kwak, pinch hitter, came up with a big RBI that hit Cooke and De Luca-Paape in to make the score 4-3. SWOSU escaped the inning only allowing 2 runs, but the Jets had all the momentum heading into the final inning.

The Jets held the Bulldogs scoreless in the top of the 7th, but were unable to get the bats going in the bottom of the inning. The Bulldogs took the win 4-3.

Game 2:

The Bulldogs bounced back in the second inning putting up two runs in the inning. In the bottom half of the inning, the Jets were able to come back with two of their own. An RBI from De Luca-Paape scored one run and an RBI from Mikenna Barcelona scored the second run of the inning. The Jets took the lead 3-2.
